Ashanti Fertility Doll

These carved wooden figures are traditional Ashanti fertility dolls from Ghana. According to tradition, a woman named Akua who was struggling to conceive carried a carved wooden child figurine on her back as advised by a priest. After successfully giving birth to a healthy daughter, the practice caught on and figurines became known as Akua's child. 

Each doll measures approximately 12" tall and each is unique so may vary from the dolls shown. Price is for one fertility doll. Please choose which color you prefer.
