Youth Light Your Own Path T-Shirt
Large luminous fireflies surround the positive message "Light Your Own Path". The dark navy 100% cotton t-shirt is available in children's sizes and is sure to be a favorite to wear on warm summer nights when fireflies appear. Museum 150th anniversary logo featured in the design.
Have you ever caught a firefly on a warm summer night? Chances are it was a common eastern firefly (Photinus pyralis). Like most fireflies, it communicates with patterns of flashing light. These signals are used to find and attract mates, deceive other firefly species, and avoid predators. While many organisms make their own light, called  bioluminescence, fireflies are perhaps the most familiar.
Be sure to plan a trip to see Creatures of Light: Nature's Bioluminescence opening in June at the American Museum of Natural History.
