In the Ross Hall of Meteorites at the Museum you can explore over 150 meteorites, pieces of rock or metal that land on Earth from space. Most meteorites come from asteroids orbiting the Sun. A few are from other planets, the Moon, or comets. The meteorite at the center of the room, called Ahnighito, is the largest meteorite on display in any museum. The posts supporting this 34-ton meteorite extend into the basement and all the way down into the bedrock beneath the Museum.
