Killer Snails: Assassins of the Sea is a deck-building game in which the players are scientists collecting predatorycone snails that prey on fish, worms and other mollusks. This game was created in collaboration with the American Museum of Natural History and developed by world-renowned research marine biochemist, Dr. Mandë Holford and award-winning educational psychologist, Dr. Lindsay Portnoy. The game mechanic was designed with the expertise of internationally-recognized game designer Nick Fortugno of Playmatics, LLC.
How to Play: In this game, the player is a scientist collecting and caring for venomous marine snails. The type of snail determinesits strength and the type of prey eaten, and the snails produce different peptides. To win the game, the player mustbuild a venom arsenal of the correct peptide combinationsmuchas the marine biochemist who cocreatedthe gamedoes. The winning combination of peptides always changes as it is drawn at the beginning of each game.
In addition to a starter deck of cards for each player, cards may be purchased during play from a card market . Cardswith scientific/natural events ranging from "research", which provides a peek at part of the solution, to "tsunami",which shifts all the prey cards on the table, offer strategic opportunities for victory. Additionally a variety ofpredators may be deployed to attack the snails of your competitors. The game offers a dynamic play experience inwhich players have to react and adjust their strategy accordingly.
To win Killer Snails: Assassins of the Sea , a player must outstrategizethe opponents to build a venom cocktailthat matches the venom cocktail created at the beginning of the game.
