Handwoven African Bread Basket
This one-of-a-kind basket was handwoven of carefully dyed sisal fibers and sweet grass using organic dyes. Made in Rwanda by artisans belonging to a Fair Trade cooperative, this oval basket can be used to share bread with your family while enriching the life and family of the craftsperson who made it.
About the artist: The weaver of this basket is Marcelline. Her husband works as a builder and together they support their children and family. She has been weaving for 24 years. She has earned enough money to afford electricity, clothes, food, school fees and health insurance for her family.
