Contents are sufficient to grow one crystal. The crystal will grow to a diameter of approximately 2 inches (5 cm) and a height of approximately 1.5 inches (4 cm). However the size and color will vary according to conditions during your experiment. Also needed for this glowing crystal experiment, but not included with this kit: Apron, Protective Safety Goggles, Rubber Gloves, A Jar of Steaming Hot Water. All “glow-in-the-dark” products contain phosphors and have to be “charged” in order to attain a good glow. A phosphor is a substance that radiates visible light after being energized. After being exposed to light, most items will glow for at least 10 minutes. You may need to be in nearly complete darkness to notice it. The brighter the light and the longer the exposure, the better and longer the item will glow.
