In 1971 scientists in Mongolia unearthed a preserved specimen of two fighting dinosaurs from 80 million years ago. The carnivorous Velociraptor and the plant-eating Protoceratops fought to the death. Scientists believe that an avalanche of sand swept over these two enemies, preserving them in the heat of battle. They are considered a national treasure of Mongolia.
