Banded Agate Necklace
The extraordinary variety of beads on this necklace illustrates the taste for polychromy so typical of oriental jewelry, which reached its peak during the Persian period. The model for this necklace was discovered in Susa, in the tomb of a high ranking person of the Achaemenid Persian period (4th century B.C.). The necklace is designed with jade, agate, and gold finish granulation beads.
