In 1869 Theodore Roosevelt, Sr., J. Pierpont Morgan, William E. Dodge, Jr., and Joseph Choate were part of a group that supported Albert Smith Bickmore’s proposal to create a natural history museum in New York City. The American Museum of Natural History was incorporated on April 6th, 1869.
