The Almendares club was one of the oldest and most distinguished baseball teams in the old Cuban League which existed from 1878 to 1961. The slogan of the Scorpions, printed on this shirt, was “He who defeats Almendares, dies.” Cubans love team sports. Baseball is a national passion to them and it is taken very seriously.
